After years of loyalty I follow a gut feeling and go to another mechanic for a quote. I was told at my last service by an extremely rude receptionist who always made me feel like she was doing me the favour when I either booking cars in or paying my bill,that the car desperately needed brakes to the point it would be expensive .. I got dizzy when I was told there was absolutely nothing wrong with them. Found out I have been strongly advised to not drive it anywhere. The car is apparently a deadly risk to take to even Wee Waa where I have to travel every week to the chemist. I had no choice but to take it out on Saturday. I have to travel on a regular basis for health reasons as well. It's going to cost more than the car is worth to fix it. I'm talking to the owner as I respect and care about him but the truth is the truth. I've been in potentially fatal danger for a while now and I had no idea. But basically .. that's where loyalty gets you! I got them to check the car incase it was a lemon. Was told I'd done well. Doesn't feel like it to me. Merry Xmas to me. Make of it what you will.
I was heading home to Melbourne and a bearing in my camper seized. The wheel caught on fire. I got to Narrabri Clutch and Brake service and spoke to Fred. He could fix it but not start for about 4 hours. He allowed me to take things apart next to their workshop and he would let me know what to do to fix it. He guided me through the entire repair, even driving up to get some spares that he didn't have in stock. He even taught me how to do things the right way. What a great lesson in how to repair a bearing and on how friendly country people could be. 2 1/2 hours later he charged me 1 hour labour and the cost of the spares he bought. That would never happen in the city. Check out the photos of the car with the mattress stuck to the tailshaft in a previous customers car - ouch.Definitely reccommend.
